JAKARTA: Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI) appoints five banks to be payment point, as it is trying to develop the program of single identity for investors. The appointed banks are PT Bank Central Asia Tbk, PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk, PT Bank Mandiri Tbk, PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk, and PT Bank Permata Tbk.The appointment of the payment banks follows the expiring period of KSEI payment banks for 2009-2011, which due on July 16,2011, said President Director KSEI Ananta Wiyogo yesterday.Concerning the process of selecting payment banks, KSEI has submitted proposal to 20 banks with custodian services and seven banks replied with willingness to participate in the selection.Furthermore, KSEI and those five banks will sign an agreement in July. The selection of payment banks forms part of single-indentity investor program, an implementation of the regulation of Bapepam-LK No.V.D.3.As the number increases to five, from four banks in the previous period, KSEI expects to make transaction process in the stock market more efficient, supporting the intraday facility. In the meantime, KSEI open the possibility to cooperate with investment managers in future plan of storing data of mutual funds holders. However, the plan needs support from capital market watchdog (Bapepam-LK) as the regulator because KSEI only records the data of stock investors.KSEI Director Margeret Mutiara Tang said that crimes conducted by insiders hapen not only in suecurities companies but also in invesment managers. Thus, KSEI will not wait until all owners of securities subaccount get the Securities Ownership card (AKSes) to implement the plan. The company expected that all registered subaccount owners have AKSes cards this year to meet the regulation of Bapepam-LK No.V.D3. The regulation must be fulfilled before January 31, 2012.As of May, KSEI recorded there are 78,544 investors having the card, or not more than 23% of the total 343,355 registered subaccounts.Of the AKSes card holders, about 13,000 have logged in to the company site. In fact, the card is crucial in monitoring the latest position of investors portfolio in brokers. (T04/NOM)
