JAKARTA: Startup Weekend entrepreneurial activity must be a mass movement across Indonesia to accelerate the birth of the businessmenof SMEs and large scale business. This became a worldwidemovement because it proved to be a powerful way to give birth to the beginners in various fields of businesses."We just have 0.18% or 400 thousand entrepreneurs and in the next 20 years thefigureis expected to reach 4 million entrepreneurs from Indonesia. Startup Weekend is one way or the acceleration effortwhere community is confident to be an entrepreneur as it is not only self-employment training services buthowtostart to do business, " said Ciputra, founder of the University of Ciputra Entrepreneurship Center (UCEC). According to him, developed countries need at least 2% of the populationto beentrepreneurs so they can help bringprosperity tothe community. Singapore has reached 7% so that the salaries of employees in that country can be 15 times higher thanin Indonesia."Therefore, the problem of poverty, unemployment and other problems this nation can be solved along with the increasing number of entrepreneurs in different regions. Startup Weekend is to be implemented in all major cities in Indonesia, finally reaching 4 million new entrepreneurssooner than20 years ahead, "said Ciputra.The training that took placeat Indonesia Design School (IDS), at the 3rd floor of Epicentrum Walk, Kuningan, Jakarta, was held from 20 to 22 May 2011. Activities on Fridaybegan with the presentation of business ideas from each participant, which are eager to make a startup company and directly trained to identify problems, solutions, access to markets, profits and others.This training expects to generate at least 5% of the 100 direct participants to realize their business ideas.Moreover, the organizing committee of the Indonesian Community Technopreneur UCEC in factwas wellprepared while investors prepared US$1 billion to finance feasible business ideas.
