JAKARTA: PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI), an infrastructure financing company, this year plans to disburse IDR700 billion to finance at least four infrastructure projects in Indonesia.The company is reviewing and due diligence on the projects, which include power plant and drinking water supply.Operational Director SMI Frans Nembo Sukardi said that the projects to be financed will probably start no earlier than the second half of 2011 as the company is still in the preparation of due diligence to see the feasibility of the project and the potential business development.According to him, the priority this year is the projects of power plant and drinking water supply, considering that those facilities are urgently needed by the people.However, he could not mention which projects will get financing from SMI.We are still reviewing the feasibility of them all, for example, for the project of minihydro power plant, we have to see the location, water debit supply, catchments area, and the surrounding problems. So, we do not give sudden facility for the projects whose feasibility has not been tested, he told Bisnis yesterday.Other than financing those projects, SMI will take part in handling the projects included in the public private partnership program by the government.Meanwhile, it has not been stated which projects have the potential to get financing and SMI involvement needs approval from the government, since SMI was established by the government to support infrastructure development in Indonesia.Governments fundPresident Director SMI Emma Martini said that the fund for the projects would come from the disbursement of the government on December 2010.He said that the projects in the due diligence process are expected to get financing because the necessity of the projects is high.Starting this year, we are doing the due diligence of several projects, such as drinking water supply and power plant [minihydro].
