JAKARTA: The idea to use alternative fuels of gas liquid Vehicle (LGV) or better known as Vigas as one of the options to control the subsidized fuel oil (BBM) is considered irrelevant.Executive Director of Reforminer Institute Pri Agung Rakhmanto considered the use of Vigas as a good idea. However, the idea becomes irrelevant if linked as one of the alternatives to reduce the consumption of subsidized fuel oil."It becomes irrelevant if linked when pertamax is expensive and very improper because Vigas is still very limited. If we, for example, talking about technical issue related to the limited amount of gas station then the idea is still far to be realized," said Pri Agung, yesterday.Furthermore, Pri Agung admitted that the idea to use Vigas needs to be pushed forward. The government is also suggested to strongly encourage the use of LGV in the community due to the use of such alternative fuel will be difficult to be realized without any regulations that obligate the use of such alternative fuel.He also said that the government will also need to provide incentives to the people associated with the procurement of converter kits for vehicles to be able to consume Vigas.Responding to the fuel oil arrangement plan that being reviewed by the government, Pri Agung assessed that the government should choose to raise the price of premium rather than choosing the option that currently being discussed.According to him, the issue that needs to be considered in the arrangement of subsidized fuel oil is the possibility of the increased use of two wheel vehicle. That means, the premium will continue to increase each year so that in the ends the premium will not be in accordance with the quota.Pri also highlights the supervision of public transportation that will be difficult. We could save IDR7 trillion if the increase is IDR300 per liter."Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla also welcomed the use of Vigas but he said it still takes time.
