Bank Mandiri provides US$39 million loan to Pelindo I

JAKARTA: PT Bank Mandiri Tbk disbursed investment credit to PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) I worth of US$39 million.Pelindo will use the credit to finance the rejuvenation and replacement of equipments in Belawan International Container Center, North Sumatera.The 7 year investment credit has asset collateral including goods and equipments of Pelindo in Belawan, said Corporate Banking Director of Bank Mandiri Fransisca Nelwan Mok in the signing ceremony of the investment credit agreement, today.She also said that the bank is proud to provide an investment credit to Pelindo which is known as one of the strategic state-owned companies in port sector in Indonesia especially in developing the market potency of international zone in Malacca strait.Fransisca also said the investment credit was denominated in foreign exchange (US dollar) based on the need of Pelindo which going to buy some heavy equipments from overseas.Besides, the US dollar denominated credit was approved since the revenue of Pelindo is denominated in foreign currency thus it reduces the currency mismatch risk, she said.According to her, the credit disbursement of US$39 million is the first stage of the financing plan between Bank Mandiri and PT Pelindo I amounted IDR1.2 trillion in 2011.President Director of Pelindo I Harry Sutanto said that the credit facility is expected to boost the performance of Pelindo I especially in operational and financial aspect.
