Indonesian stocks closed 0.71% higher at 3,821.83

JAKARTA: Indonesian stocks advanced for the third straight days. Strong performances of finance and miscellaneous stocks boosted the index to top 3,800 today.Jakarta Composite Index (JCI), which measures the overall performance of Indonesian shares, gained 0.71% or 26.89 points to 3,821.83. JCI moved within range of 3,795.31-3,822.42. About two shares up for every one share that fell, whilst more than a half of the shares remained unchanged.The increase in JCI was led by PT Astra International Tbk which contributed 4.25 points to the index, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk 2.85 points, PT Bank Mandiri Tbk 2.70 points and PT Bumi Resources Tbk 2.43 points.Shares that hampered the movement of JCI were PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk with -0.71 point, PT Tifico Fiber Indonesia Tbk -0.45 point, PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam -0.40 point and PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk -0.36 point.Bisnis-27 Index gained 0.67% or 2.19 points to 329.40. The index of 27 stocks and launched by business daily newspaper dubbed Bisnis Indonesia was moving at 327.26-329.97.Meanwhile, Euro Stoxx 50 PR decreased 0.19% to 2,796.57, Stoxx Europe 600 Index declined 0.39% to 268.54 and FTSE 100 Index decreased 0.05% to 5,722.43.From regional market, Nikkei rose 1.79% to 9,629.43, Hang Seng increased 0.04% to 21,859.97, Shanghai SE advanced 0.11% to 2,649.32, Kospi gained 0.77% to 2,063.90 and Straits Times decreased 0.13% to 3,049.52.The MSCI Asia Pacific Index rose 0.38% to 859.49.The rupiah was traded up 0.09% against the US dollar at IDR8,593.
