PAL finishes KJPs order

SURABAYA: PT PAL Indonesia (Persero) completed the manufacture of escort tug worth US$7.9 million, ordered by KJP Consortium.KJP consortium consists of PT Kellogg Brown & Root Indonesia, JGC Corp. and PT Pertafenikki Engineering.President Director of PAL Indonesia Harsusanto Soenarwan said the escort tug powered 4400 HP (horse power) which is called Tangguh Ewako is part of the four units of similar ships ordered by KJP Consortium.The ship will be handed over at dock of PAL in Ujung, Surabaya, today. Previously, three units of similar vessels had been delivered, each on October 1, 2010, January 26, and 23 April 2011. All ships are aimed at supporting the activities of Tangguh Ewako project in Papua.PAL has conducted several tests on Escort Tug Tangguh Ewako ship, including bollard pull test, the requirement for 55 tons of weight, and the 12-knot speed."HP 4400 escort tug is designed specifically to be able to operate to support the activities of the Tangguh LNG project in Papua, and our delivery schedule to KJP Consortium is on April 28," he said yesterday.Harsusanto expects the partnership with KJP Consurtium can be further developed in the future by constructing new ship or repairing and maintaining the old ships.The ship we produce has high level of safety since we are reffering to Klass Llyod Register standard and Indonesian Classification Bureau, equipped with fire extinguishers.
