TANJUNG REDEP, Berau: PT Berau Coal, a subsidiary of PT Berau Coal Energy Tbk, is expected to be able to supply coal as much as 200,000 tons for mine mouth of Lati steam power plant with a capacity of 28 MW, following the optimal operation of the power plant next year.Financial Director of PT Indonesia Pusaka Berau Choeruddin Noer said the company is beginning to finish the development of turbines with a capacity of 2x7 MW. One of the turbines can be operated in August, while the other one of 1x7 MW is now under the bidding process.We hope Berau Coal is able to supply 200,000 tons of coal for the steam power plant until 2014 as the additional of some turbines thus the electricity supply for Berau Municipal can be achieved, he told Bisnis last week.Regarding the coal demand, Public Relation Manager of Berau Coal Bintoro Prabowo said the company actually has commitment to supply coal to the steam power plant for 100,000 tons.From the total of commitment, Lati steam power plant is only able to absorb 83,000 tons. The supply shortage was mainly because the power plant can not be able to accommodate all of the supply stated in the commitment, he said.According to Bintoro, the selling price of coal for Lati steam power plant is still under the market price since the plant is located in mine mouth.Besides, the steam power plant also supplies electricity for 26 villages in Berau thus it also becomes the companys social commitment. Berau Coal allocated fund for corporate social responsibility in 2011 amounting IDR27.94 billion. Of the total fund, infrastructure development has an allocation of IDR10 billion.Particularly, for the supply outside the commitment we need to talk about it again in the context of B to B, he said,Berau Coal during the first half /2011 produced 9 million of coal or about 44.3% from this years target of 20.3 million tons.We are optimistic to reach the target.
