JAKARTA: A consortium of PT Pertamina Drilling Service and KS Energy Limiteds subsidiary gets a US$98 million contract from one major oil company operating in Indonesia.In an official statement yesterday, KS Energy said that the contract is on drilling services and development starting on the third quarter of 2012. However, it is not stated which oil company is involved and where the drilling will be located.Later, the contract will be officially signed by the related parties, said KS Energy Corporate Secretary Shirley Lim.The contract will valid for 42 months right after the drilling operation in the third quarter of 2012.KS Energy is a company running in oil and gas business in Indonesia and it is listed in Singapore stock exchange.In other development, PT Pertamina (Persero) starts to take harsh action for some gas stations that take advantage of fuel shortage in some areas.The measure was taken to prevent illegal trading of subsidized fuels by speculators. The subsidized fuel is supposedly used only by low class people.In Region I [Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra], there are at leas 19 gas stations being punished because they do not distribute diesel fuel. They are not allowed to operate for one week up to one month, depending on the gravity of their mistake, said Pertamina Media Manager Wianda Pusponegoro yesterday.In region 6, which includes Kalimantan, Pertamina has sent a written warning to a gas station that sold subsidized fuel for a modified car, which can store fuel up to 200 liter.Fuel shortage, which has been happening recently in several areas, is due to higher consumption and sales of subsidized fuel illegally.In the legal trading system of Pertamina, the subsidized fuel supplied to gas stations must be sold directly to retail consumers.
