JAKARTA: Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs is urged to overcome the limitation of container yard in Tanjung Priok Port.Currently, imported container begins to enter Indonesias busiest port ahead of fasting month and Eid ul-Fitr 2011, Head of Trade, Customs and Harbor at Indonesia Chamber of Commerce Widijanto said.The import of basic material and industrial raw material such as garment has increased since early this week.Such condition occurs to fulfill the basic needs for fasting and Eid ul-Fitr, he added, yesterday.Currently, Tanjung Priok terminal operator utilizes export yard to accommodate imported container that continues to enter the port.Bisnis data shows that the yard occupancy ratio (YOR) of imported container in Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) reached 105% while export 61% and reefer container 57%.Meanwhile, Koja Container Terminals import YOR has reached 111.5% while export 50.2% and reefer container 100%.He also reminds the Tanjung Priok Container Terminal operator to anticipate import surge next week.Such anticipation is conducted by relocating imported goods that has entered the port since ten days ago to temporary yard, this action is called as overbrengen, and the terminal operator will be subjected to pay the relocation expenses.Goods owner of new arrival goods will be subjected to additional expenses if their goods are directly relocated upon arrival. We dont want such thing to occur, he added.Meanwhile, Chairman of Indonesia Logistics and Forwarder Association (ALFI) Jakarta Provincial Sopian Pane recommends an immediate extension of customs territory from Tanjung Priok to Marunda North Jakarta Logistic Area.
