JAKARTA: PT Bank Mega Tbk and Citibank N.A Indonesia are financial institutions appointed to manage cash of retailer PT Carrefour Indonesia.Citi Indonesia expects that the partnership with the international chain store will last for a long time, thus will ensure promising income, said to Citi Indonesia Chief Country Officer Tigor Siahaan.Fee based income will surely get in, but generally we dont expect it for short term. We want long-term partnership. Moreover, Carrefour is keep growing and it must be for a long term, he said after signing the contract yesterday.The cooperation may cover not only cash management but also other financial solutions including cash delivery to Carrefour stores, using credit card as payment, virtual account, and Internet banking.Im sure this partnership will give added value, said Bank Mega President Director J.B Kendarto.Moreover, Bank Mega believes that the cooperation will prove its credibility in providing service for international companies after it received penalty from the central bank because of debt collecting issue.I believe the cooperation will give added value, moreover Bank Mega and Citibank face the same condition and the directors must pass fit and proper test, he continued.In the first quarter of the year, Carrefour recorded sales at IDR3.26 trillion. It makes the prediction that for the full year, the retailer will generate IDR13 trillion.At the same time, Carrefour Corporate Affairs Division Head Satria Hamid Ahmadi gave positive outlook in this partnership, mainly in efficiency of operating costs.Our operating profit may decrease by 30% to 40%. We will surely be more efficient, he said.The positive view, as he added, came from the proof that cash management system of both bank are reliable. Citibank has partnered with more than 2m000 companies in providing cash management and other services.However, Satria rejected to reveal the amount of fee for the service.In mid March 2010, tycoon Chairul Tanjungs PT Trans Retail acquired 40% shares of PT Carrefour Indonesia. Trans Retail is a subsidiary of Trans Corp that runs in media, lifestyle, retail and entertainment.The business group, which also manages Trans TV and Trans 7, took over Indonesian news portal detik.com.Bank Mega, along with Bank Mega Syariah, is one of the financial companies belonging to Chairul Tanjung.
