JAKARTA: PT Semen Gresik Tbk, Indonesias largest cement producer, booked higher net income by 15.18% to IDR1.87 trillion in the first half of 2011 from IDR1.87 trillion from IDR1.62 trillion in the same period of last year.Meanwhile, the revenue grew 14.17% to IDR7.6 trillion from IDR6.66 trillion.The higher revenue in the first half of 2011 was boosted by higher sales volume of cement for domestic market by 9.7%.In a term volume, the domestic demand goes higher stimulating higher sales, he said when called by Bisnis yesterday.Then, the increasing demand against cement was stimulated by many infrastructure and property development, as well as construction activities, said Agung.Along with higher net income and revenue, the operating income also enhanced 10.82% to IDR2.27 trillion, but the operating income margin declined to 29% from 30% in the same period of last year.The lower performance of operating income margin was contributed by higher fuel and electric prices which wasnt in line with higher product price. Consequently, the production expenses continued to be higher.Fuel price contributes 27% against production expense, while 11% comes from electric tariff. So, total expenses are quite large because of higher prices, he said.In the second half, the producer plans to adjust the product sales price.
