JAKARTA: The government recorded of at least three sole agents namely Daihatsu, Suzuki and Nissan which are ready to develop low-cost green car with first year estimated production of 50,000 units.Production is expected to evolve gradually according to the maximum production capacity of each car producers.Director of Transportation and Land Transport at Ministry of Industry Supriyanto said based on the record there are three principals that have been reported to involve in the eco car project, they are Daihatsu, Suzuki and Nissan.According to him, the project of environmentally friendly and affordable price cars is expected to increase the use of up to 40% local components included engine components, transmissions as well as the exterior and interior of the car."In the program of low cost-eco car, there are two engine choices 1.000cc for 22 kilometers per liter at a expected of IDR80 million per unit, and the 1200 cc engine with fuel consumption 20 kilometers per liter with expected price below IDR100 million," he said on Automotive Symposium held by Mercedes-Benz in IIMS 2011 yesterday.Besides conditions of technical production, as he said, the government through Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs are coordinating import tariff for new component that has not yet produced in Indonesia, income tax agency, sales tax on luxury goods, and vehicle tax in several Regionals.On a separate occasion, PT Astra Daihatsu Motor introduced the A-Concept Car which is championed as a forerunner to the manufacturers project on eco car.Designer of Daihatsu A-Concept Mark Widjaja described the development of vehicles are conceptually very close to the taste of the market in the country.The vehicle, as he said, was developed through a survey process that fairly represents the needs of public vehicles in Indonesia against small vehicles, with a sporty and luxurious impression."The process of making A-Concept car will be conducted for 3.5 months from the survey, initial design until the finishing and it is expected to become the market preferred car and meet the needs of the vehicles in form of dimension and design.He said the general design of these vehicles is referring to any national identity, including the roof form that is designed with a silhouette inspired by the shape of Pancoran tower.Expecting incentiveMeanwhile, Mercedes-Benz Indonesia said that it is ready to bring some models of friendly vehicles to enter the domestic premium car market along with the hope of the fiscal incentive facility and infrastructure improvement.President Director of Mercedes-Benz Rudi Borgenheimer said that the future trend leads to the development of new technologies such as efficient fuel consumption and lower carbon emission.To realize it, as he said, Daimler will develop Blue Hybrid technology such as sedan S 400 with low carbon emission and SUV class ML 450 that is able to suppress carbon up to 33% of the car class, as well as E 250 CDI with fuel efficiency technology.In addition, the company will also develop several models of battery and fuel cell vehicles, namely Smart Electric Drive and B-Class F Cell that will be publicly produced in 2012."However, to develop environmentally friendly cars need the readiness of technology, infrastructure and incentive facility to be accepted by the market."(t03/msw)
