JAKARTA: A consortium for construction of regional hub port in Sorong District, Papua has been created after memorandum of understanding has already been signed today.The MoU has been signed by President Director of PT Pelindo II R.J Lino and other representative officers of companies participated into the consortium.They are PT Samudera Indonesia, Tbk, PT Meratus Line, PT Tempuran Emas Tbk, PT Pelindo IV, PT Salam Pasific Indonesia Lines, PT Tanto Intim Line and PT Pembangunan Perumahan as well as District Government of Sorong.Later, the construction of container terminal in Sorong will significantly erode container-shipping cost from Jakarta to the region, said R.J Lino.He explained that the container settlement from Tanjung Priok Port to Jayapura spends IDR19 million per TEUs. By constructing the terminal, thus the settlement cost can be cut significantly, he asserted.In the meantime, the terminal construction in Sorong is expected to be started by 2011 and is targeted to be operated by 2013.
