JAKARTA: PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II needs IDR11.75 trillion to realize the plan of making Soekarno-Hatta Cengkareng Airport into a world-class standard.The developer of some airports in Indonesia is concentrating on detail engineering design (DED) that will accelerate the project of Soekarno-Hatta airport renovation starting early 2012.The needed IDR11.75 trillion funds will come from the company internal cash and syndicated loan from some state-controlled banks, including BRI, BNI, and Bank Mandiri, said AP II President Director Tri S. Sunoko.Now, the team is speeding the process of making DED documents. We target it will finish at end of 2011, so the construction can start in 2012, he said at Launching of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Grand Design over the weekend.Vice President Boediono approved the new design of the international airport on May 24.The renovation of the airport needs to be completed soon, as the number of passengers last year reached 44.3 million, twice the current capacity.Meanwhile, the capacity of the existing terminals is not more than 22 million people a year, Tri said.The renovation of the airport includes the optimization of two runways, enabling more traffic that will serve up to 62 million passengers in 2014.We will reconfigure runway 1 and 2 by adding taxiways and increasing the capacity of plane parking area from 125 planes to 174 planes.Moreover, AP II will develop the Terminal 3 and will revitalize Terminal 1 and 2 to give more spaces for passenger mobility.Terminal 3 is projected to accommodate 25 million people a year, increasing from 4 million currently.In addition, the new Terminal 1 is designed to serve 18 million people a year, while the current capacity is 9 million.Terminal 2 will be developed, increasing the capacity from 9 million people to 19 million, Tri exposed.The revitalization of Terminal 1 and 2 will include expansion of the current buildings to the front, which will be added with integrated buildings.Integrated building is between T1 and T2, with concept of one stop service, development of supporting facilities, and construction of new cargo terminal, he explained.The construction of the integrated building between Terminal 1 and 2 starts this year and is expected to finish by mid 2013.New airportAP II plans to build the third runway and the fourth terminal, occupying 830-hectare area in northern of the airport.However, the decision in making runway 3 depends on the process of land acquisition, he said.The process of acquiring land is expected to finish by 2013. If the acquisition is not completed by the time limit, AP II plans to build a new airport outside Soekarno-Hatta.Ministry of Transportation urged AP II to focus on making DED so the construction of Soekarno-Hatta will finish on schedule, said Director of Air Transportation Herry Bakti S.
