NUSA DUA, Bali: US-based angel investors are ready to support startup entrepreneurs in Indonesia having potency to grow up.USs State Secretary Hillary Clinton confirmed that US Government paid great attention for development of entrepreneurship in Indonesia. Later, Indonesia will be one of 5 countries that are suggested to have connectivity with successful entrepreneurs and angel investors.The existence of angel investors is needed because entrepreneurial potency could be everywhere. We want to share experiences on entrepreneurship development, Hillary said in a brief speech in Regional Entrepreneur Summit (RES) held in Grand Hyatt, Bali at the end of last week.Moreover, Indonesia is one of country having great young population, based on data. Almost 75 million people of Indonesia are under 18-year old.In RES, there have 500 startup joining business competition. US entrepreneurship delegation (Edel) has appointed eight winners. They need more guidance and brought near to Angle Investor so they can further develop their business.Those eight startups are Game 4smart, Indomog Payment Gateway, Prohukum, Sitti Contextual Adnetwork, Arah Invironment, Gojek, Integrated Waste Management and Marine Current Turbine.Angel Investor is a large investor having a commitment to assist the financing of small scale companies or startup businessman with huge potential to develop.Hillary reminded that there must be sustainable force thus youth generation have dreams, creativity and innovation. This condition leads to the establishment of new employees."Both men and women should be encouraged by the entrepreneurial mindset. I am most excited about encouraging entrepreneurship among women because it is already proven, if a woman develops, economy will develop also."According to Hillary, entrepreneurial opportunities are all around us. Therefore, the US government with its Global Entrepreneurship program seeks to share knowledge and experience."Thank God there is now Indonesia Global Entrepreneurship Program [GEPI] which became next chapter of GEP in US so that we can bridge, provide mentoring and connect the startups with angel investor."The government should support this movement by establishing regulation and eliminate bribery and corruption. Besides providing the ease of business licenses and eliminating cultural norms that differentiate men and women is also important.American people have got entrepreneurship in their DNA, while Indonesians need to change their mindset, said Hillary. I say thank you for those who have dreams to fulfill. Keep dreaming, she said.Strong commitmentIndonesia is urged to have strong commitment in developing entrepreneurship to trigger economic growth and to create job fields.Robert D. Hormarts, US Under Secretary for economy, energy and agriculture reminded that US government has learned entrepreneurship development from Silicon Valley, where giant companies including Google, Yahoo, and Twitter were born.Indonesia can learn from US experience in fostering the growth of entrepreneurship, he said.US strong commitment leads to entrepreneurs growth by 13%from the total citizen. I am optimistic Indonesia could increase number of new entrepreneurs by 0.18%.In Hormats opinion, entrepreneur is the solution to overcome unemployment, poverty and other issues.He believed Indonesia has a strong will to develop entrepreneurship particularly among Bank Mandiris independent entrepreneurs.Workshop and training are the keys beside technology literacy.Ciputra, founder of Ciputra Group, believed the government must immediately address the problem of mindset in the development of entrepreneurship. In his opinion, it is important to emphasize creativity and innovation process in the education curriculum at the preschool to higher education.To date, education system is too conventional while in entrepreneurship era, creativity and innovation process are the main roles.Mindset is a major issue that must be overcome. Why can we investing in entrepreneurship education if all countries have already recognized the importance of entrepreneurship and its contribution to economic growth? he said amidst the RES event.The government have education fund around IDR250 trillion. Yet, we dont know how much has been allocated for entrepreneurship training to overcome such mindset issue.Ciputra reminded that government role is important to boost entrepreneur in Indonesia at least 2% of the total population.Actually, the government is highly committed to develop entrepreneurship, Head of Indonesia's Investment Coordination Board Gita Wirjawan said.Such entrepreneurship development through the RES enables Indonesia to compete with developed countries," he said.
