JAKARTA: Sole agents of automotive brand-holder are exploring markets interest against a concept car by targeting consumers in growing and more segmented urban.PT Astra Daihatsu Motor will offer a concept car for urban segment that will be launched in Indonesian automotive exhibition week in order to find out markets responds.Today, Daihatsu is manufacturing a concept car named A Concept which is categorized as a city car. Later, the cars prototype will be exhibited in Indonesia International Motor Show 2011 (IIMS 2011) on July 22-31, said ADM Marketing Director Amelia Tjandra.The city car-typed car is believed to attract interest in national car market because the car volume trend in urban continues to soar and it still provide great opportunities to be handled.Nevertheless, the specification and the price of the car is still on process because the management still need to undergo a market survey for several months including participating in the exhibition event.Even, the concept car in city car segment is predicted to be welcomed greatly by market considering on more dynamic mobility needs.Reportedly, A Concept car will become an affordable and environmentally friendly car to support the governments program, namely low cost-eco car commencing in August.Premium segmentOn the other hand, BMW Indonesia focusing on a premium segment consistently will launch several models of Mini as a new brand by the end of next year.BMW Group is preparing to launch a Mini brand. In addition, it becomes a sole agent of brand-holder for global market of Mini that will be officially announced in Indonesia by the end of 2011, said PT BMW Indonesia Director of Marketing and Public Relation Helena Abidin.Now, we still focus on branding the latest Mini brand, so there is no information further over total Mini models that will be imported into Indonesia, total dealer networks, and the cars price, Helena said.BMW group had taken over Mini brand since 1994 and has upgraded several latest models since 2000. Last year, the sale of Mini was reported globally to 234,175 units.In the event of IIMS 2011, PT Mercedes-Benz Distribution Indonesia also launches its concept car, Smart Fortwo, to achieve its market target by 750 units until the end of this year.The micro-car having two passengers capacity has been designed for urban market offering driving safety, fuel efficiency, environmental friendliness, and life style, said by Deputy Director of Sales and Marketing for Smart Fortwo Dhani M. Yahya.Smart Fortwo has already imported in Indonesia at the end of last year, since it had been launched at the first time 12 last years in France, he said.In the meantime, Smart Fortwo is offered into three models, namely Coupe mhd 45kw pure, Coupe mhd 52kw passion, and Cabrio 52kw passion that will be exhibited in IIMS event including the electricity-powered car of Smart.(t01/msw)
