JAKARTA: PT Pertamina confirmed price of 50 kg LPG will increase by 10% at the end of June since the current fuel price is considered irrelevant with economical price.The state-owned oil and gas company currently sell 12 kg LPG with IDR5,850 per kg and IDR7,355 per kg for 50 kg. In fact, the current economical price for both LPG is already more than IDR9,000 per kg.The company plans to increase the prices for 12 kg LPG and 50 kg to adjust with economical prices of both products, Vice President Communication Pertamina Mochamad Harun said.We plan to increase the price of 50 kg LPG by the end of June. Meanwhile, we will request for approval from the shareholders to increase price of 12 kg and noticing its impact when increased, he said yesterday.SOES Ministry has approved the plan to increase the price of 50 kg LPG. Earlier, Assistant Deputy for Strategic Industry and Manufacturing II at SOE Ministry Gator Trihargo said the price of non-subsidies LPG need to be adjusted in order to improve its business.Price of non-subsidies LPG in the market must be equal or above economical price since most of industries and restaurants uses 50 kg LPG. If it occurs then non-subsidies LPG business will increase and improve.Member of Commission VII from Golkar Party Dito Ganindito comprehends Pertaminas plan to increase LPG prices but he demanded the increase of non-subsidies LPG to be conducted in phases, e.g. 5% of its current price. The increase shouldnt incriminate its customer, perhaps 5% first.On February 6, 2010, Pertamina increased the price of 12 kg LPG to IDR5,950 per kg from IDR5,850 per kg.Business lossEarlier, Pertamina President Director Karen Agustiawan estimates the company will suffer IDR4.7 trillion losses from non-subsidies LPG in 2011. Such loss increased more than 100% compared to the company's work plan and budget [RKAP] in 2011 that targeted at IDR2.3 trillion. It caused by the increase of international LPG prices and worlds oil prices.Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary-General of Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Carla Parengkuan said the increased price of 50 kg LPG up to 10% will reduce profit in hotel and restaurant businesses.However, hotel and restaurant services will not increase the cost to stay and food.Hotels and restaurants always prepares reserve fund to finance several unexpected budget. Such reserve usually around 10% of its operational cost.Hotel and restaurant managements always change its room tariff and food once a year. It means the increase of electricity and LPG cant immediately change the price. (t06/msw)
