BANDUNG: PT Telkom Tbk offers government cloud computing service or known as G-Cloud is able to minimize cost up to 95%.Director Enterprise & Wholesale of PT Telkom Tbk Arief Yahya said that the service is officially adopted by Provincial Government of West Java, starting June 14 and it has been previously used by two other cities in Indonesia.He said G-Cloud with virtual server and software as service makes local government in saving its investment in computer software and hardware.Thus, it will be efficient. We could reveal the tariff now, but the cloud computing is able to save about 95% from the normal investment, he said in e-Indonesia Initiatives 2011 in ITB, yesterday.According to Arief, conventionally procurement of modern banking system needs IDR1 billion.However, with cloud computing, banking industry may divert the allocation for IT supporting tools to maintenance cost which only about IDR50 million per year.Telkom estimated the service will be enthused by local governments since it will be able to save local budget significantly. Annual capital expenditure can be allocated for operational expenditure.However, I could give you the target of local government which we are going to serve. Geographically, there are 87 cities, 348 municipals, 5,224 district and 6,890 villages which are potential to use G-Cloud. Minister of Communication and Informatics Tifatul Sembiring said that the ministry gives freedom to local governments to adopt cloud computing service in all lines.When asking about the risk, Tifatul onlu said that the ministry has not yet prepared the Law regarding this matter.
