3 SOEs soon to be acquired

MAKASSAR: At least three state-owned enterprises, including PT Kertas Padalarang, PT Sarana Karya and PT Primissima will soon be acquired by other state controlled enterprises and strategic partners after earning an approval from the House.Kertas Padalarang will be acquired by Perum Peruri while Sarana Karya will be taken over by a mining state run enterprises and Primissima will be disposed to other shareholders, said Minister of State Owned Enterprises Mustafa Abubakar.After these three SOEs, several others will also be liquidated or being acquired by other SOEs, thus in 2014, there will be only 81 SOEs of the total 142 SOEs, he said Tuesday evening.The privatization of Primissima, Sarana Karya and Kertas Padalarang happens to be next phase of 2010s SOEs restructuring plan. At the moment, government controls 52.79% shares of Primissima, 100% shares of Sarana Karya and 40.8% shares of Kertas Padalarang.Primissima is located in Yogyakarta, focusing on textile such as spinning, weaving, blaco material and garment. In the meantime, Sarana Karya happens to be an asphalt producer in Buton, Southeast Sulawesi. Kertas Padalarang produces banderole and other kinds of valuable paper.It was reported that a mining state owned enterprise, PT Timah Tbk is now completing the acquisition plan of Sarana Karya while Perum Peruri intends to take over Kertas Padalarang. On the other side, Primissima shall be disposed to other shareholders, Indonesian Batik Cooperative Association (GKBI).Mustafa further added that stock disposition through strategic sale is currently ongoing and government leaves this matter to each of the enterprise.The other soon-to-be-acquired SOEs include Balai Pustaka and Perfilman Indonesia. Most probably, Balai Pustaka will be changed into a public service body, under Ministry of Education and Film and being managed by Ministry of Communication and Informatics.Budget efficiencyThis year, as Mustafa added, Ministry of State Owned Enterprises is poised to close down 26 SOEs, thus in 2014 there will be only 81 SOEs. Such measure aims to establish state budget efficiency and further bolster SOEs.Government shall focus to liquidate plantation and forestry state owned enterprises, said Mustafa.For the time being, in plantation sector, there are PTPN I until PTPN XIV along with PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia. It means that the total SOEs is 15 enterprises. In the future, they will be merged into one company, focusing in plantation, he explained.The same notion is also applicable for forestry state owned enterprises, Perhutani I until Perhutani V and Inhutani will be merged into once company.Further, three pharmaceutical companies will also be consolidated into two state owned companies.In transportation sector, for state owned enterprises will be merged into two companies.PT Angkasa Pura that is once consisted of four companies, will be consolidated into two companies. One company will be responsible for eastern Indonesia. However, we do not know yet, which city that will be the headquarter of Pelindo II, Mustafa added.Every merger requires comprehensive review. Yet, he expects that the acquisition of Pelindo will be completed in 2012 and at the very late in 2013. (k46)(t02/msw)
