JAKARTA: Bank Rakyat Indonesia Syariah in the first half of this year has disbursed IDR170 billion loans through sharia-based pawning product.Performance of BRI Syariah pawn financing has increased 16.09% compared to the position in late 2010 which was IDR646.08 billion.Head of BRI Syariah Product Development Maryana Yunus said the pawn financing better performed at cities that save gold saving culture, such as Padang and Pekanbaru."In addition, the increase was also encouraged through sponsorship and product socialization," he said today.Gold pawning is a financing product to customers with gold jewelry and precious metals as collaterals. This product was launched in 2009 by BRI Syariah and offers a maximum financing period of 120 days and is extendable.With performance in 1H/ 2011, he is optimistic that pawn financing of BRI Syariah will reach IDR1 trillion this year. For such target, BRI Syariah is expecting an increase of 54.79% compared with the end of 2010.(T03/NOM)
