JAKARTA: PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk estimated it has extended IDR22.3 trillion worth of consumer loans in the first half, 15% higher than its consumer loans at the end of 2010, propelled by credit card and mortgage.BNIs Consumer and Retail Director Darmadi Sutanto said the amount has reached 89.2% of its IDR25 trillion target this year.Dodit Probojakti, general manager for credit card business at the bank, said the number of credit cards it issued rose 27% from the end of 2010 to 1.9 million cards, while transaction rose 40% to IDR6.2 trillion in the first half, on track to meet its target of IDR13-14 trillion given there will be many festivities in the second half of the year.Other product to support consumer loans at BNI includes mortgage financing. Executive Vice President Diah Sulianto estimated loans extended for mortgage financing have reached IDR14.88 trillion as of June 30, 22% higher than IDR12 trillion at the end of 2010, and represented 82.66% of its IDR18 trillion target this year. Sulianto also said the banks uncollateralized loans reached IDR626 billion in the first six months, more than half of its target of IDR1 trillion for this year. (T01/NOM)
