JAKARTA: Government is paying close attention to the ballooning foreign portion in government notes (SBN) since the value already penetrated into IDR237 trillion.Director General of Debt Management at Finance Ministry Rahmad Waluyanto revealed that the foreign portion in the government noted has taken up 34% of total investment portfolio. If public confidence is eroded, The notes prices will fall. Thus, government will pay higher coupon. We concern on that amount of foreign portion in the government bonds, he said today.Therefore, government expects stable politics and economics to secure investors' trust in the government.So far, the total government debt has arrived at IDR1,127 trillion. In addition, foreign investors also control 90% of total portion in foreign-exchange government notes.In the meantime, government plans to issue regulation on debt limitation by next year to control the debt.
