JAKARTA: PT Pertamina (Persero)lowered non-subsidized fuel price, such as pertaamx and pertamax plus,in an average of IDR350 per liter, starting on May 30, 2011.

VP Corporate Communication Pertamina Mochamad Harun said that the pertamax price has been lowered by IDR 350 per liter to IDR8,000 per liter from IDR9,250 at 12:00 p.m. last night.Meanwhile, pertamax plus price also decreased to IDR9,200 per liter from the previous IDR9,550 per liter. The decline of pertamax and pertamax plus followed the average production price of gasoline Ron 92 and 95 which also fell during the last two weeks, he said before the hearing with Commission VII of the House, yesterday.Usually, as he said, Pertamina always evaluates pertamax and pertamax plus price every month, while also updating the global oil price. How ever the current evaluation was conducted earlier, since there will be holiday in this week.As he said, the decline of non-subsidized fuel is expected to increase the consumption of non-subsidized fuel amid the increase of subsidized fuel.Related with smuggling of subsidize fuel which is mushrooming in several regions, Harun said that it was caused by the disparity between subsidized fuel and non-subsidized.According to him, supposedly the subsidized fuel price has to follow the reasonable economic price based on the endurance of state budget. He saw the reasonable price for subsidized fuel is between IDR200 and IDR300 per liter or lower than non-subsidized fuel price."Smuggling of subsidize fuel [premium] since is happened since the price are not fair. It supposedly Rp200-Rp300 per liter lower than non-subsidized fuel [pertamax]."Harun revealed pertamax consumption is currently only about 1,800 kl (kiloliter) per day. In fact, the pertamax consumption was 2,500 kl when the price was at IDR7,500 per liter. On the other hand, Director General of Oil and Natural Gas at Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Evita Herawati Legowo said the realization of subsidized fuel consumption since February of this year continues to increase significantly.Until May 22, 2011, as he explained, the realization of premium consumption has reached 66,006 kl per day or 3.9% above the quota of 63,540 kl per day. Likewise, the consumption of diesel in the same period was 37,750 kl or 5.3% above quota 35,850 kl per day.Meanwhile, the realization of kerosene consumption until May 22 is only about 5,200 kl per day or 18% below the quota of 6,340 kl per day.Downstream Regulatory Body Oil and Gas (BPH Migas) also noted the realization of subsidized fuel consumption up to April 2011 which increased by 7.29% for premium and 9.73% for diesel.Head of BPH Migas Tubagus Haryono said that non-subsidized fuel consumption, pertamax plus and pertamax, has declined significantly since the beginning of this year.According to him, the highest decline in pertamax and pertamax plus consumption occurred during March 2011 which fell to 7.69 million liters compared with 13.41 million liters in the same month last year.(t03/wiw)
