JAKARTA: PT Bank Ekonomi Raharja Tbk posted a nearly two-fold drop in its first-quarter net profit to IDR59.28 billion from IDR116.41 billion in the same period last year, crippled by increasing in operational cost.The company booked 34.42% cost operational rise to IDR166.75 billion in the first quarter this year from IDR124.05 billion in the same period last year.According to its financial statement published today, a higher of operating income was not supported by a rising in net interest income.The company only pocketed a 7.12% increasing in net interest income in the first quarter this year to IDR215.79 billion from IDR201.45 billion in the first quarter 2010.The operating income fell almost double to IDR76.47 billion from IDR152.39 billion. The companys asset declined 2.40% to IDR21 trillion as of March 31, 2011 from IDR21.52 trillion a year earlier.Currently, HSBC Asia Pacific Holdings (UK) Limited owns 98.96% of the companys ownership, while PT Bank Central Asia 1%, and public 0.04%.The BAEK-coded stock slipped 2.50% or IDR50 to IDR1,950 at the Jakarta Stock Exchange as of 5.16 p.m. local time.
