JAKARTA: Work to set up the blast furnace project in Cilegon-Banten, West Java, by PT Krakatau Posco is well-advanced, Krakatau Steel President Director, Fazwar Bujang tells Steel Business Briefing. The equipment orders for the project have been placed including that of steelmaking equipment with SMS Demag, the continuous caster with Siemens VAI, the plate mill with Mitsubishi and coke ovens with Paul Wurth. Vice President Boediono visited the new plant last May and stated the government's support for that project to be the base for national steel industry. Bujang at that time also said that the investment made in the project was a stratetic one which would bring huge impact to the development of national economy, particularly the downstream industry like shipping, automotive and heavy equipment.
