JAKARTA: The saga on fund embezzlement case of PT Elnusa Tbk in Bank Mega Jababeka branch office continues to display more controversy. An allegation that such fund is used to save PT Harvestindo Asset Management occurs.Harvestindo manages mutual funds product, yet it faced particular default. Elnusas IDR111 billion deposit fund was then transferred to Harvestindo through PT Discovery Indonesia. Harvestindo and Discovery are closely related since the President Commissioner of Harvestindo and CEO of Discovery is basically the same person, Ivan Ch Litha.Ivan was arrested by the Jakarta Regional Police along with a broker, Richard Latief and a staff at Collections Harvestindo with initial name, Zul. The police also arrested Elnusas Finance Director, Santun Nainggolan and the Bank Megas head of branch office, Itman Harry Basuki.Based on Bisniss internal source such fund transfer was held underground involving Elnusas employee and Discovery Indonesias executive. Such fund will be used as investment in such future securities company.The fund was allocated to Harvestindo as investment in mutual fund product, namely Harvestindo Istimewa. Such fund investment suffered loss, thus it could not be returned to Elnusas account in Bank Mega.The money was then invested and probably suffered loss. Elnusas employee did not know that the fund was about to be used by Harvestindo not Discovery, said the source yesterday.The indication is affirmed by the statement of the Monetary Fiscal and Foreign Reserve Investigator Team at the Regional Police Division Arismunandar. He said that one of the brokers happening to be the mediator of the transaction was Richard Latief.Richard was the communicator between Itman Harry Basuki and Santun. Discovery, represented by Ivan Litha needed the fund. Those three suspects would receive 20% of the total IDR111 billion or around IDR22.2 billion.During the agreement process, Elnusas Finance Director allowed them (those suspects) to use the fund , he said quoting the testimonies of those three suspects.Aris affirmed the obvious involvement of Elnusas employee in realizing such transaction although he or she used the signature of Elnusas former management. It is non-sense; the nominal disbursement value was filled by Bank Megas head branch office. This does not match the standard operating procedure of fund disbursement.The accusation of Itmans involvement was denied by his lawyer, Partahi Sihombing who accused such claim was somehow baseless.PPATKs consistent measuresIndonesian Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) continue its intensified involvement as well. The Head of PPTAK, Yunus Husein had received a suspicious financial transaction from three banks with regard to Elnusas fund embezzlement in Bank Mega.President Director of Harvestindo, Fresty Hendayani declined to comment when being confirmed on the allegation that the fund is about to use to save Harvestino.Based on Bank Megas transaction record, Elnusas deposit fund was transferred to Discovery and finally to Harvestindo. It was proven by the transmission scheme on 16 September 2009 where IDR35 billion fund was transferred to Harvestindo.On 6 September 2009, Discovery transferred current account to Harvestindo as much as IDR35 billion and IDR40 billion on 24 November 2009. Bank Mega unveiled that the total Elnusas fund being invested in Bank X reached IDR111 billion. (T02/NOM)
