JAKARTA: The West Sumatra provincial government targeting a potential exploration of South East oil and gas blocks by 2011, covering four administrative regions in West Sumatra that proved to contain a reserve source.PT Radiant Utama Interinsco Tbk, owner of the exploration field concession, is currently surveying the potential oil and gas in Tanah Datar, Solok, Sawahlunto Sijunjung and City of Sawahlunto.Governor of West Sumatra Irwan Prayitno said that Radiant continues the effort to find oil and gas reserves in the concession that formerly owned by Caltex Riau with initial findings about 120 million barrels of oil and 260 billion cubic feet of gas within that block."If later the reserve source is discovered and feasible to be produced then it will surely provide a new revenue source for West Sumatra. We are projecting to be able to gain IDR1 trillion revenue per year from this oil and gas production," he told Bisnis in Jakarta, today.The South East field formerly known as Singkarak field was once owned by Caltex based in Dumai, Riau. But due to existence of oil and gas laws, the field was no longer controlled by the US company. (t06/wiw)
