JAKARTA: PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Persero) is currently awaiting for the final decision over its bid to become majority shareholder (above 50% share) at a Cambodian telecommunication company.Telkom President Commissioner Tanri Abeng said that the Cambodian company is indeed one of the market leaders in Cambodian telecommunication industry.Telkom has sent the offer but we are still waiting for the decision. One thing for sure, Telkom bids a telecommunication company that controls Cambodian telecommunication market, and it is not a state company, he said today.Data compiled by Bisnis shows that MobiTel and Beeline are the companies controlling the biggest market shares in Cambodian telecommunication industry.MobiTel adalah market leader operator telekomunikasi di negara kerajaan Kamboja, dengan penguasaan pasar mencapai 55%. Perusahaan ini dikuasai oleh Royal Group, yang tak lain dimiliki oleh Kith Meng.MobiTel is a market leader in the monarchy-based country and dominated 55% of market shares. Royal Group, owned by Kith Meng, controls the company.Besides telecommunication sector, Royal Group has a number of portfolio in the financial, hotel, real estate, broadcasting sector as well as restaurant franchise.Meanwhile, Beeline is the second largest telecommunication operator in Cambodia and is a subsidiary of Russias telco company, VimpelCom.I can not mention the name of the company.
